He was the widower of Mary Brands Heaton, whom he married January 1, 1965 at Valley Forge, PA. She predeceased him in 2015. Rodger moved back to Arkansas in 2016 to be near family.

Survivors include a sister, Barbara Heaton Crabtree (Leon) of Melbourne, FL; several cousins, including Linda Rinehart Banks (Douglas), Delbert Rinehart (Rae), and Margie Lawhon Simpkins (Doyle) all of Redfield, and Kent Rinehart (Myra) of Rison; a niece, April Hartmann (T. We are sad to hear of Rodger's death. We were old friends and skied and sailed with Rodger and Mary for many years. We were sorry to lose touch with him when he moved to Arkansas. We miss him but we cherish our memories of the many good times with him and Mary.
