Robert Lang Porter, age 63, of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023. A native of Pine Bluff, Robert was born April 13, 1960, a son of Donald Ray Porter of Pine Bluff and the late Patsy Ray Tucker Porter. He was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School in 1978 and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University. He had taught school at Clarendon, Gould, Hermitage, and Hampton. For 20 years he taught art in the Hampton School District, retiring in May of 2018. Robert was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, reading, and music. Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by a niece, Margaret Bailes. In addition to his father, survivors include a brother, Steve Porter (Jeannie); a sister, Donna Porter; nieces and nephews, Brandon Porter (Katie), Kimberly Curlin, Nikki Garner (Kenny), and Maria Rice (Chandler); a number of great-nieces and great-nephews; and his companion, Kristi Alvarez. Visitation will be Saturday, September 9, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel in Pine Bluff. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Brother James Watson officiating.
