Obituary for Mary Helen Barnes (Ingram)

Mary Helen Ingram Barnes of Rison was born March 25, 1944, in Gould, AR, to Johnny Albert Ingram and Genevieve Valentine Armstrong Ingram.  She attended Dollarway Schools and was a supervisor for Pine Bluff Industries.  Using her sewing skills, she had occasionally sewn dresses for the Miss Arkansas Pageant.  She was a long-time manager for Tupperware.  Mary loved shopping and camping, often taking trips to Branson or Gatlinburg.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and frequently played “Liverpool Rummy” with the kids and grandkids.  She never lost, and according to Trae and Katy, “She cheated!” A life-long Elvis Presley fan, she would be quick to tell you about the time she missed meeting him when she was young due to her father sending her out on an errand to pick up a part for his auto repair shop.

Mary was a member of Summit Baptist Church and attended faithfully until her health began to decline.

Mary passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, in a Little Rock hospital at the age of 79.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Ray Barnes; and her brothers, Johnny Albert Ingram, Jr. and Jimmy Lee Ingram.

Survivors include her daughters, Tonya Hall and Cindy Koonce; her sons, Bobby Vanlandingham and Kevin Barnes; grandchildren, Ashley Rhoden, Dustin Koonce, Trae Hall, Katy Vanlandingham, Kolten Barnes, McCallie Hall, and Geni Hall; great-grandchildren, Ella, Jace, McKynlee, Raylon, and Savannah; and a number of nieces and nephews.
