Obituary for Martha Sue Grumbles Thomas
Martha Sue Grumbles Thomas, 80, of Pine Bluff, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021.
Born February 20, 1941 at Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Franklin Grumbles and Eunice Lucille Henderson Grumbles. She was reared and educated at Pine Bluff and graduated from Pine Bluff High School.
Mrs. Thomas attended Baptist School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse. She worked at Jefferson Regional Medical Center as a psychiatric nurse from 1959 until she retired in the mid 1990’s. She also earned a Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
For many years, she was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. In her later years, she was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Robert "Bob" Thomas who died October 5, 2006.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Shank (Cheryl) of Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany and Greg Shank (Trisha) of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Sherry Hart of Pine Bluff and Kay Faver of Swan Lake; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Brother Todd Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
