Joyce Petty, 86, of Denton, Texas (former longtime resident of Pine Bluff), went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 16, 2019, in Denton, Texas.
Mrs. Petty was born June 30, 1933, in Pine Bluff, to the late Jesse Lee and Versie Lee Holmes Pierce. She was reared and received her education in Pine Bluff, where she graduated from Watson Chapel High School. She also attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
She married Bobby M. Petty, Sr. on June 19, 1948. He passed away on November 15, 2008. She moved to Denton, Texas to be with her daughter in 2009.
Mrs. Petty worked in several places during her lifetime which included the former First South Bank, Kroger, and Safeway.
She was a former longtime member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Ft. Smith. During her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Bobby Petty of Pine Bluff; daughter, Lorene (William B) Murray of Denton, TX; two grandchildren, Rachel (Derrek) Nichols of Rison, Arkansas and Jason Brad Lisenbey of Rio Rico, Arizona; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Anna, Sarah K., Sarah E., and Evan; brother, Paul Pierce of White Hall; two sisters, Virginia Gray of Pine Bluff and Norma Jean Patillo of Flower Mound, Texas.
Mrs. Petty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby M. Petty, Sr., and a brother, Jesse Pierce.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 19, 2019, 6:00-8:00 PM, at Robinson’s.
A graveside service will be Friday, December 20, 2019, 10:30 AM, at Fitzhugh Cemetery with Reverend Steve Monk officiating by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home.
